we got a tree!

by “we”, i technically mean chris got a tree but i helped him pick it out, we used the horvath mama and papa’s car, and more than half of the decorations are mine so i think i earned the right to say “we”.  =)

after joy and brian came over sunday to play wii (not to be confused with the “we” above =P), chris and i rushed around to get the tree before gateway’s traditional christmas service that night.  in the spirit of being efficient with our time, chris walked up to the 6-7 footers, choose the tallest, and proclaimed, “this one!”
in the spirit of wanting a pretty tree, i insisted that we unwrap him to take a looksie before we made it official.

thankfully, the tree was perfect and it wasn’t too long before we got him home.

of course, after putting him in the stand, we had to rush off to church and abandon him for a few hours.  but it wasn’t long before we were back, with our trusty kn by our sides, to finish the job.

friday five seems to have fallen off.  heck, compared to the high numbers of the last two months, any blogging here at hsn has fallen.

and, as timing would have it, i’ve got to run off to work in a few minutes so i’ll try to put out a quick update before i go.

1. i got my computer cord back!  for those who didn’t know, i left my cord in class last week.  after draining my battery that night to obsessively watch SatC, when i realized i had no power source, i called the school to ask if anyone had found it.  the woman in the office said she checked the room and it wasn’t there but she was an idiot wrong.  my little cord was waiting for me to come and rescue it from middle school hell and i did.  now, i’m reunited with my computer and all the wonderment it brings, like blogging and you!

2. ktd’s always up on cool onliney things and it’s delightful, but never surprising when he shares his insider knowledge.  in an email dubbed “list making lissie”, i found the link for teuxdeux.com.  fun times.

3. i got a job.  maybe two!!  =) 

while boyfriend is away to-do list

i’ve always been a fan of lists.  i like seeing everything in one place and watching the list shrink is oddly satisfying, sometimes downright addictive.
my mom likes lists and i’ve got some friends who love them as well.  however, i never knew someone so skilled in the art of list making until i met chris.  this is truly a craft that he’s mastered for not only is he good at thinking of things to put on the list, he’s even better at actually completing them.

so, with all the time on my hands these days, i occasionally turn to him for his expertise.  he’s helped me keep them to a manageable size and thinks of things i overlook or forget.
after i wasted too much time yesterday, i asked him to help me make a list for while he’s away on a family vacation. completing my airport delivery, i sadly realized that we never got the chance to do it.  imagine my surprise when i got an email entitled: while boyfriend is away to-do list.

the early bird had no choice

in case anyone out there wasn’t sure, today is wednesday.
not sunday but wednesday.

of course, i feel confident that you were already on your wednesday game and had no delusions about it being the last day of your weekend.

i, on the other hand, was not as luckily in the know and aware 30 minutes ago when the hammering in my backyard began.  the incessant banging woke me from my slumber, tearing me out of my delightful dream at eight on the dot and a not so friendly conversation ensued in my head.

“really people??!?  at 8? on a sunday?!  i thought fence men didn’t work on a sunday!?  it’s not my fault you didn’t finish it yesterday and now i’m being punished…thanks a lot, idiots!.
i hate you all.”

after a few minutes of silence, i had the epiphanic realization that i was the idiot.

better late than never music monday ♫ ♫

i happened to have a delightful day.  maybe i’ll get around to posting more on that later on this week but there were lots of elements that somehow came together to make it extra happy. nothing super special or wonderful but apparently the right combo for lissie to have a great day.

so, on my way to chris’ for dinner, when the christmas music came on the radio, i was actually excited to hear it and sang along with bruce to my little heart’s content.

now, if you don’t already know, i’m really more of a classic christmas songs kinda girl.  since i was a wee one, i’ve owned the greats like bing, perry, and nat.  however, i have come to embrace today’s song and mariah carey’s christmas album up there with my oldies. =)

so, get in the spirit, sing along and just enjoy it instead of being grinchy (like we grown-up can be).
