light at the end of the tunnel

as most of you know, i’ve been out of commission for a few days with the maybe-flu.  there’re various aspects about this that i want to share but to keep this post at bay, i’ll save most of that for later (potential) posts.

considering that death sounded appealing wednesday afternoon and thursday, today has been much better.  this evening, i’ve noted an increase in energy and glimmerings of an appetite.

since i had a free movie at blockbuster that expired tomorrow, i took the trip and rented one to watch tonight.
i considered going “as is” in my pjs with the addition of a sweatshirt but decided that looking cute while you feel like crap is really a better option for the psyche.  so, instead, i layered a black tank over a yellow one, pulled on my favorite black yoga pants, disguised the dirty hair with an old crocheted scarf, and perked my eyes with a single stroke of mascara.  quick and easy.  while i was doing this, two things came to mind. expediting the inevitable

NOTE: i’m gonna get this post up quickly so it may lack some of the wit and wonder to which you’ve grown accustomed. ;) heck, there may even be some *gasp* typos!
that said, please forgive and read on.

i got home yesterday after a great-turned-yucky day.  as i came in through the garage, i was a little surprised that my usual fluffy, canine greeter was no where to be found.  maggie’s usually right there, looking all excited as she welcomes me home.
that’s ok, i thought.  her hearing’s going and i figured she was in my room sleeping and didn’t hear my car pull in.  it’s happened before.
so, i called her but still she didn’t show.  i listened for the jingle of her collar…nothing.

then, i heard a bark.  it sounded kinda far.  my first thought was that i somehow closed her into my bathroom.  however, as i was about to head down the hall, i realized what had happened. Read the rest of this entry »

embracing it while it lasts

the past few days have been really good.
and i don’t use the word “really” lightly.  i don’t use many words lightly.  (ex: when i type lol, you better believe that i really DID laugh out loud or else i wouldn’t have said it!  of course, that’s not a word but you get my drift.)

that’s not to say the days have been perfect, without mar.  there have been plenty of moments of yuck but nothing returning to God didn’t take care of.  and in between, there have been some fun things!

sat–valentine’s day.  single girl’s blahmare, right?!  haha…not so.  i did spend the first half of the day fighting Read the rest of this entry »

f-f-f-friday 5

earlier in the week, as i was planning out my life, i realized that today was teacher in-service and that my kids would not be in school to participate in this week’s friday 5.  “no prob,” i thought to myself.  “i’ll just have to take their questions early.”  well, as happens to the best laid plans, it didn’t happen.  i thought of it almost everyday just never at the right time and it wasn’t until i hugged all my kiddos goodbye that i realized what had happened.

letting cory down was not an option so i had to be a little resourceful.
with the last two questions coming in this morning, this is the email i sent cory as was scribed on a note on my iPod cause the thing is that cool.

potty talk

20070913131246_plb_toilet_componentsdiagram1ok, as per the requests of jen and amanda, i’m moving on from the pet peeves to something new.  this post has been brewing in my drafts for a few weeks and it seems too perfect to pull out for these particular girls.

as every good mother should, my mom taught me that there are certain topics of conversation that are inappropriate at the dinner table.  matters of the  bathroom was one of those topics.  so, if you happen to be at the dinner table, or whatever your 2009 version of that is, i’d suggest you skip this post and save it for another time.

:)

that said, if you’re anywhere else, read on…

joy and i were chillin out max at starbucks the other weekend, reading, chatting, and waiting for one of her friends.  since i’m always double-fisted when i’m there, balancing my coffee intake with water, it never fails that i have to use the bathroom at least once per visit.

when i got settled into this bathroom, the whole toilet wobbled.  ugh.  i hate when this happens.  i know it’s because the stinkin thing isn’t sealed correctly however it makes me feel like a whale and fear falling off or, even worse, in.  of course a whale couldn’t fit in the toilet, so that one’s completely irrational.  ;)

lest you should think i’m going back to pet peeves, it was there, wobbling as i went, that i thought 1–i need to share this with my online friends and 2–heck, there are other bathroom things i’ve noticed as of recent that i could share as well and make a whole post out of it! pet peeves

in the past, whenever the ice breaker has been to name a pet peeve, i’ve been at a loss.  of course i knew there were things that bothered me, but i never could come up with something that i’d label a “pet peeve”.

i no longer have that problem.
i now have a concrete list of a few things that could definitely fall under that category.dcr0800l Read the rest of this entry »
