this morning, despite the fact that i could have used a few more hours of shut-eye, i woke up happy.
feelin’ good, satisfied with life, can’t stop smiling happy.
and really, why shouldn’t i be? there are lots of things going on that make for happiness…
first of all, just last night, i was surprised and delighted by a dressed-up night out to celebrate grad school and some other new beginnings. we went to perry’s steakhouse. though our waitress tried to kill our experience with her lack of skill and it took for-evvvvv-errrrrr for our entrees to make it to the table, the malbec was quite nice and, after one send-back, the filet, crab, asparagus combo melted in my mouth, forcing audible signs of delish. and really, even had the food sucked, the thoughtfulness of the night and enjoying my company already trumped all and i’d have enjoyed myself regardless.
secondly, this whole swine flu scare has turned out pretty good here at school. kids are so afraid they’re going to die, they’ve been scared into washing their hands and keeping things out of their mouths. anything that saves me from kiddie germs is good in my book.
over the past few weeks, the example of a friend’s diligence to get things done now so he doesn’t have to do it later has rubbed off in all the right ways. i feel more organized and productive, the list of things to do rarely gets too long, and, overall, it provides for some peace of mind.
and lastly, though the lack of job thing is no fun and worry has slowly begun to creep into the scene, the whole scenario has pushed the already amazing work friendships to a deeper level on all topics and i’m loving my girls even more. though i miss our boy barry at carino’s, i think the fact that our hh moved to kourtney’s pool and apt has added to things as well.
and that’s why i’m happy today.

Are you looking outside of teaching at all? The church has a position open in our Communications Dept. It’s the project coordinator position…would you be interested in hearing about it?
