yeah…that makes no sense. but it’s happening. amazing things here on hsn, you just never know!
i’ve c & p’d the q & a from cory’s delightful blog.
however, before you read this week’s five, let me give you a bonus five that we meant to post a few weeks ago, on a friday we weren’t able to hook up with the man.
five things we like about cory
- we both like mac and cheese. also, i like that he doesn’t like that buckaroo thingy–that thing covered in chocolate. he likes texas. ~jb
- i like the questions that he asks. ~ej
- i like that he’s kind. ~mg
- i like that his brother gave us cookies. ~mtg (that wasn’t his brother; that was chris. his brother went to india. remember when we prayed for him?) oh. yeah.
- i like everything that he does. ~ms
and now for the five for 8 may:
1. sk: i have a math problem that i want him to solve but i don’t know what the ‘x’ sign means! (everyone said “times”!) ok…i want him to solve 100×30.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say 3,000. if you want to know a trick, anytime you’re multiplying [times-ing] numbers with 10 or 100 or 1000, you just add the number of zeros to the other number. 10 x 2 = 20, 1000 x 45 = 45,000 &c
2. hm: what was your teacher’s name when you were in kindergarten and what was your favorite thing with her? my favorite thing with miss horvath is hug time.
I’m blanking on my teacher’s name when i was in kindergarten. maybe my mom will be able to help me. [i just asked her] she didn’t know. i remembered what town i went to kindergarten in though: Morton, IL. Oh! my brother remembered (he had the same teacher): Mrs. Schroder. She let us watch letter people. we didn’t really have hug time… but one time lots of kids were making fun of me because i thought it was more fun to play with girls on the jungle gym than to sit with boys and draw trucks, and Mrs. Schroder said i could do whatever i wanted and people stopped making fun of me. that felt good.
3. hr: have you been stung by a bee?
yeah, and it did not feel great. what about you?
4. ck: did you have teacher appreciation week when you were a little kid?
not really, but i was a teacher’s pet, so in a sense, every week was teacher appreciation week. when do you have teachers’ appreciation week?
5. ms: which teacher did you have that was the best? did you ever like a teacher to let you go outside and did you like to stay near her?
i had several great teachers. Mr. Holcomb who taught history at Crown Point high school was outstanding. My high school freshmen and sophomore english teachers were really, really good. i remember not being too impressed with my home-ec teacher in middle school. Mrs. Schoemaker, my first grade teacher, was one of the best in primary school.
are you all excited to meet your first grade teachers?
**we did not have time to go over these responses on friday cause i got to leave early. we will be sure to read and reply on monday!
