relaxaTION

**THE mom and another favorite mama have accurately noted that it’s been a while.  it’s true.  i’ve had a few moments in the past few weeks of really wanting to blog but otherwise it’s been kinda dry.  it happens.  i’ll get some more photo hunt pics up later tonight when i’m home.**

they don’t come around all that often but last weekend brought the most relaxing two days i’ve had in a while.
it was soooo good.

the wet weather on saturday washed away the highly awaited golf plans but also forced some pure chill time.  we got to each lunch outside while watching the rain come down, catch up on some of the office that i’ve missed for the past two months, and celebrate shawn and andrew’s new place with ping pong, nintendo, and friends.
after church and lunch on sunday, we walked through the boy’s hilly neighborhood to starbucks for some iced java and a gentle friendly game of scrabble (since i’d have been creamed otherwise!!), mingled with the neighbors at the block party, and hung out a little before i got to learn about the wonders of photo hunt.

it was full of different things yet completely flexible and unrushed and i loved it.  hopefully, the future holds more of such delightful times.

until then, i’m counting down the days til summer!
10 days of school
-1 field trip to the farm
-1 kindergarten graduation
-1 pool party
= feels more like only a week to go!

20070424-kryptonite

so…yesterday, i came to school very unprepared for my body’s food needs and ended up turning to leftover snacks in the room.

chex mix is my kryptonite.

seriously, once i start munchin, i lose control and feel like i can’t stop.  and i’m not really a big snacker!  there’s just something about the combo of tastiness chex mix has at its core that gets me. thank goodness for snack-sized baggies!

how ’bout you?  is there some kind of snack or food that’s irresistible once you have a taste?

there must be…
give it up, yo!

:)

    nuts…specifically dry roasted almonds

  2. Nora Says:

Oh, I love M&M’s and cashews!

  3. Jen Says:

i’m not really a bug fan of “snack food”, but i also loves me some Chex Mix. for some reason it seems like a really special treat, too. not sure why- maybe because i only actually buy/indulge in it once or twice a year??

  4. Jen Says:

not a bug fan either, but i meant BIG fan….

  5. lissie Says:

ha ha. i’m not really a bug fan or a big fan either. i only see the chex mix at school and then still only let myself taste on special/desperate occasions. so, maybe it’s like you said…it only seems like such an amazing treat because of the rarity. though, none of the other crap there that could claim the same talks to me in such a way.

nora-that sounds like a nice combo. you and the sweet and salty, sugar and fat mixes! first it’s the candy corn and peanuts…now this. your house is the only one where candy dishes even catch my eye.

I do like to snack. I think my kryptonite might be goldfish. I seriously can’t be allowed the box/bag or it will be gone in one snacking session. It’s weird, because I’m typically good at portion control.

    mmm. goldfish.

Got it, got it got it got it!! (that’s Photo Hunt and a variety of other “got it” type venues) :D

Coca-Cola is my kryptonite. 5-6 cans a day. Oh, you mean food?! The food list is infinite…frito’s, doritos notch-yo-cheese (I still have good story about the Cool Ranch), popcorn, peanuts, almonds, cashews, food, chicken wings, mcdonald’s french fries, food, sweet tarts, spree, chocolate covered raisins, craisins, food, fruit trays, vegetable trays, spinach/artichoke dip, any kind of dip, this dip/that dip, anywhere a dip-dip, old mcdonald had some french fries, yum-EE in my tum-EE!!

  8. knuckles Says:

And on another note, my fingers are finally blue and blue-with-sprinkles/sparkles free. FREE AT LAST!! Let’s not let that ever happen again. No seriously. I’m not kidding. No means no.

  9. lissie Says:

ok, fine. i didn’t think blue was your color anyway. ;)

  10. knuckles Says:

But I like blue. Blue on my hands, on the other hand (literally, hahah), bring back nightmares of childhood memories. Years of psychotherapy have squelched those night demons, but every now and then, the blue monster rears its ugly head.

  11. lissie Says:

i should clarify that i don’t think it’s your color on your fingernails.
night demons and the blue monster?! no wonder “no means no”. i had no idea…

    mmm, chex mix… consumpTION!

My favorite snack foods are: El Lago tortilla chips, yogurt cups, and fancy-pants cheese and crackers. (By fancy-pants cheese I mean aged goudas and whatnot.)

  13. lissie Says:

i’m a lover of fancy-pants cheeses as well. sometimes, that’s all that’s in my cheese drawer. (i’m not sure what the drawer is supposed to contain but it’s been officially dubbed the cheese drawer. =)

  14. Mom Says:

Fancy-pants cheese lovin’ runs in the family! From me right on down to Kimo & Keli’i! I always have something special in my cheese drawer.
