today is kinda a big day.
it’s the return of something i’ve looked forward to, dreamed of, and revered.
today, i am reunited with my old friend…
JEANS DAY!!!!
i will be working p.t. at barnes and noble through the holiday season. i’m excited to have something for now, and really, b&n sounds like it could be fun. i get to help people find books, maybe make some coffee, do storytime in the kiddie section…and get a small payment for my services.
while i fight the whispers of nastiness from the enemy that tell me all sorts of lies about the job and me…
i’m excited.
and, the excitement is even more intense right now cause today’s my first day and i get to wear jeans. it’s just orientation and they told me i could dress casual. i was thinking the normal dress code is pretty relaxed so when she asked if i had any questions, i replied, “you mean i can wear jeans?!”
“yup!”
so what if i’ve been off for forever and could wear jeans, pjs, or nothing all day if i wanted.
there’s something to be said for jeans day at work and i’m excited to have it back.

Yeah yeah… call me when it’s boxers and T shirt day. THEN I will be excited. The only thing that makes working on this film stuff is that I get to write in my intimates. No pantalones allowed!!

dave: did you not see the second to last sentence? every day has been boxers and t shirt day for the past 5 months!
jenn and jen: thanks!! =)

No.. the last sentence says “if I COULD wear pj’s”. It doesn’t say “I DID”. Big difference. Your version implies choice.
Well lemme tell ya sumthin toots.. In Davesylvania there IS no choice. Pant = Sunlight. If you are indoors your pantalones shall be free!!

I’m glad you found a gig! And one that lets you wear your beloved jeans! =) Even if it is just for the holidays, that is progress. Baby steps, as Bob’s doctor says.

I used to work at Bookstar when I was in college – a chain that was at least all over the Southeast, don’t know about here, until B&N bought them out. It was great…I loved that job. For me, even shelving books was fun. I got to get lost in my own little introverted world for a while and just alphabetize. Oops, did I just reveal that I’m a total dork?

That last comment was from me, Jennifer Raulie, not my husband, Scott. Weird mix-up of gmail addresses!

ha! i was wondering if it was actually you when i saw his comment. heehee
i’m totally dorky like you. i just shelved for the first time yesterday from 7am til noon and thought it was delightful! =) not only did i get to alphabetize but i also got to fix messiness and make nice, neat shelves of books for people. it was great.
