yesterday, i went to church twice: crossroads in the morning and gateway in the evening. after my first visit to gateway’s deepen service last week, i liked it better than their morning offering. it delves a little, go figure, deeper into God’s Word and has more (and better) music. the time slot of 5-6:30 isn’t great though so we’ll see…
as for crossroads, there were a few reasons i wanted to go but one was for the music. maybe it’s just that it’s done in a style i’m used to, that i’m familiar with the songs, or because i think kn’s just that good, but whatever the reason, i’ve missed it and i was glad for a taste again sunday morning.
one of the songs they played was take my life. it’s wasn’t sung exactly like chris tomlin does it but that was the version they were going for.
simply listening to the words evokes emotion and makes you ponder your life. however, my pondering yesterday was topped off with the question of why, after being a Christian for so long, i don’t know more of the Bible. i mean, i’ve read through probably about 85% of it, and 40% of that has been read many times over. but, do i know it? have i taken enough time to really study God’s Word? when i think about the fact that it’s one of His main revelations to us today, shouldn’t studying it and pouring over its words take more priority in my life?
hmmm.
ok. =) here’s the song! it was written in 1874 by frances r. havergal. chris tomlin added a small refrain and i love it.
happy monday!
Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days,
let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands and let them move
at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for Thee.Take my voice and let me sing
always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold
not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
every power as You choose. Here am I, all of me.
Take my life, it’s all for Thee.Take my will and make it Thine
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is Thine own
it shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord I pour
at Your feet its treasure store
Take myself and I will be
ever, only, all for Thee.
Take myself and I will be
ever, only, all for Thee. Here am I, all of me.
Take my life, it’s all for Thee.

you’re RIGHT! i was thinking to myself, “self, what do you Do with all your time?!”
sure enough, when i thought about it, “chasin’ boys” was the only thing i had.

I miss the music most…and no, it’s not because I’m entertained by the music, but rather I really focus, mediate and feel connected to God with that type of worship music. I become so connected that I can’t even explain in words how important more contemporary worship is to me…all I know is that I miss it. High church is lovely and ritualistic…and I try my darnest to be intentional, but I miss contemporary worship. Call me the next time you go to the Deepen Service?
