happy hour never tasted so sweet

reading the newspaper this morning gave me lots of info.

1. people are sick.
2. miracles can happen.
and, the one that could affect you most…
3. today’s your lucky day.

amy’s ice cream is celebrating 25 years and today, they’re having a free ice cream happy hour from 2-6!  yum, yum!photo-10

speaking of yumminess, yesterday as i was putzing around in my backyard, picking at this and that, i came across some veggies in my abandoned garden.  you see, the season has passed and most of my plants died anyway so i kinda left things to fend for themselves.  apparently, some of the little guys weren’t ready to say goodbye just yet and i have some nice looking vegetables for tonight’s dinner!

and finally, as some of you may have deduced from yesterday’s post, i went to a concert in san antonio last night.  monday, i got a text from nathan asking if we wanted to surprise kourt and join them for a Read the rest of this entry »

friday fiver

today has been a wonderful day!

last night, my man surprised me when i spied with my little eyes a sephora bag waiting for me after my class just because he likes me.  his awesomeness continued when he suggested we try and catch the sunrise the next morning.  mt. bonnell, coffee, and chris are a great way to start the day, even if it’s too cloudy to see the sun.

afterward, i got to add another austin breakfast place to my list when we hit up the omelettry f796697_4or some eats and meandered around a neighborhood looking at houses and for a parkish thingy that was on the map despite eluding us in real life.

the happy streak continued with a grilled muenster and roast beef, productive time at home, and a long awaited reunion with my HH girls.  though i’ve seen K and J individually, it’s been a while since i’ve been able to chill with both at the same time.  the three of us together is one of my favorite trios and i don’t want to go that long without again!

now, at last, i cut and past this week’s friday five.  thanks, cory!

third time’s the…something

this post has been waiting to come out.
i’m finally letting it.  better late than never, right!?
plus, it’s time i moved on from whining about the fingers that i fear my be more than jammed since they’re still swollen and sore.  wait…i said moving on.  fine.  i’ll whine no more. ;)
(some of the time line may sound off cause i don’t feel like rewriting for the weeks that have lapsed.)

week two of austin restaurant week has come to a close.  this one kinda snuck up on me so i only got to go out once.  lastPrint fall, i hit up cru with some girls and louie’s 106 with los hombres.  sadly, it was so long ago, i don’t recall many specifics but i know that i enjoyed them both.  being surrounded by wine was quite delightful at cru and i do remember that the decor of louie’s 106 seemed a little odd and hodge-podge in a weird kind of way.  also, the guys said the restroom was a mile away.  but otherwise, all was well.

this time around, after some menu perusal and emailing, we decided on paggi house.  if i remember correctly, this place had mushrooms highlighted in almost every single dish but they made the entrees sound SO yummy despite the fungus, i still wanted to go.
we pulled up and…closed on sundays. great. Read the rest of this entry »

randomness

i have half a post about austin restaurant week started.  i thought i was determined to get it up tonight but then i got a phone call from a friend who needed to talk and i discovered that in the iLife installation mess, between my efforts and those of my mother, iPhoto is somehow gone.  AHHHH!

so now, i’m feeling frustrated and tired and blah so i’m not finishing the other post but rather writing this one instead.

i have to say, i don’t like having to be in charge of my computer.  i’m super excited about iLife but it’s given me a headache the past few days and now with iPhoto gone, i am, for the first time, feeling less than elated with my computer.  i only even tried to open the program cause my meredith wanted a new profile pic.  i couldn’t find my pictures and had to give her a silly one since i didn’t really like any of the too many on facebook.

tomorrow, i will go to the big glowing apple at the domain and see if they can help me.
=(

on a happier note, i experienced a first on tuesday night:  Read the rest of this entry »

sunday night

i’m sitting on the floor in the living room in front of the couch.  after getting home from the Esther study, i hunkered down here for a final chill session before the week (and non-sick life) starts up.
i’ve spent most of the past two days on this couch.  for two and a half days before that, i was passed out in bed.  once the fevers subsided, i moved to the couch surrounded with the essentials of tissues, cough drops, water, books, magazines, the remote (to a loaded dvd player), and my trusty computer.

i spent more time at home through this whole sick thing than i have in a long time.  and the thing about being sick is you can’t do anything.  even when i was finally able to think and see straight, the energy wasn’t available to be productive so all i could do was just be.
but sometimes He leads us besides still waters for a reason and all we can do is be still as well.
i feel restored and renewed and i’m excited to get going again tomorrow morning.

right now, i’m chatting, perusing a few sites, and watching celebrity apprentice.  do i normally watch celebrity apprentice?  no.  i never have.  it’s interesting-ish or at least entertaining.  and there’s nothing else on.

one of the sites i was looking at is Read the rest of this entry »

star seeds cafe

this week’s lunch turned out to be breakfast in both type of food and time of day.  nora was off to CA so on our way to the airport, early in the morning, we stopped by the 24 hrs star seeds cafe on I35 to get another austiny place in before she left.  i had been there once for a late night snack after paulapalooza but this was nora’s first visit.
