i have a story for you but first i’ll give you some background.

one of the many things that i like about me and chris is that we’re both usually ready for fun. and most of the time, we’re perfectly happy to create it for ourselves.

sometimes, it’s little things like seeing who can find a penny first.

once it was me unexpectedly accepting his challenge to race around the courtyard of the museum in dallas.

which, by the way, was too. much. fun.
even a stranger who spectated couldn’t help but tell us when he came across us inside.

i also liked playing in the hanging spaghetti art thingy at the blanton.

probably pretty dirty but undoubtedly entertaining.

however, sometimes we don’t have to create fun because the fun comes to us.
and so we begin the story of last saturday night.

firsts of the birthday and more

over the past few weeks, i’ve been meaning to share some firsts as they happened but life has been busy stealing time from this blog.  and now, even though it’s late and i’m wanting to break the bad habit of not sleeping that i seem to be reverting to, i write because if i don’t get these firsts up soon, the excitement of them will diminish and they might never be shared.

taking care of jack

today, at 3:30, i was a good car owner.

today, as this was supposed to post, i got to experience another first.

today……….i took jack to the dealership to have his first oil change and check-up.

the first car that i drove on a regular basis was a ford f150. i loved driving this truck. my guy friends dubbed it “the full-mobile” after their nickname for me, full nelson. besides size and power, the full-mobile had something special. something that i think every car should have. something that i haven’t had since.

1000 miles

a few weeks ago, i made a big decision in life.  i got a car…a new car.   i’m not sure why, but this felt HUGE to me.  i’ve owned a stinkin house for a little over 2 years and while that purchase didn’t phase me, making the choice to buy a new car stressed me out beyond belief.  casey and chris witnessed a transition from laughter to tears with the blink of an eye.  this feminine manifestation of stress brought a momentary shocked/worried look to their faces but prompted one to

since i last posted on it, my views on running have…been tweaked.  there are some stipulations on the idea of me actually liking to run.  clause 1: i like it better with friends to encourage and challenge me. clause 2: it’s more fun to run through the woods than the streets of buttercup.  nonetheless, since i posted the goal of a 10 minute mile, i told myself i had to keep running on my own.  amazingly enough, on my first post-clause identification run by myself, through my neighborhood, i reached that goal!
