music monday

yesterday, i went to church twice: crossroads in the morning and gateway in the evening.  after my first visit to gateway’s deepen service last week, i liked it better than their morning offering.  it delves a little, go figure, deeper into God’s Word and has more (and better) music. the time slot of 5-6:30 isn’t great though so we’ll see…

as for crossroads, there were a few reasons i wanted to go but one was for the music.  maybe it’s just that it’s done in a style i’m used to, that i’m familiar with the songs, or because i think kn’s just that good, but whatever the reason, i’ve missed it and i was glad for a taste again sunday morning.

one of the songs they played was take my life.  it’s wasn’t sung exactly like chris tomlin does it but that was the version they were going for.

simply listening to the words evokes emotion and makes you ponder your life.  however, my pondering yesterday was topped off with the question of why, after being a Christian for so long, i don’t know more of the Bible.   Read the rest of this entry »

think, think, think

(most of this post was written on tuesday and i didn’t feel like switching the “last night” and “today” so it’s off a day.)

last night, emily, nora, and i headed over to the discount theater inpuuuuuuu round rock for some movie delight.  and by delight, i mean tears. =P
we saw the time traveler’s wife.

i had read a little over half of the book for a club i dabbled in a while back so while i knew what was going on and the ultimate ending, the pages i didn’t read and the poetic license of the screenwriter left some mystery that provided for overall satisfaction.

i left the theater thinking about the duration of relationships, wondering if living a peaceful life could really be a choice, and hoping for more happy marriages in the world cause life is too short.

i also left with the mental reminder that starting my week with a movie should become more regular.  you see, when you buy three tickets on a monday night, they’re only 50 cents each. SCORE!

twist of perspective

il_430xn-78214911 do you ever feel like a broken record?

my whole “dense lissie” category started cause i realized that i’m thinking and learning the same things over and over again.

and while it just occurred to me that i gave you a post on change a few weeks ago, for the past 24 hours it’s weighed on my mind so it’s what you get again.

like it.

lesson of the day

i have been a busy bee today.

i spent the morning working on the job hunt, made lunch for my man, and have been working on switching my spare ooms around in preparation for the new temporary roommate.

i just finished for the day and was about to hop in the shower when i passed rose’s lair and thought to feed her another cricket.

feeling proud of myself for even remembering this, i got the crickets down from their home on top of the fridge.  i opened the cage, removed some dead ones, dropping them on the counter, and grabbed the live dinner.  after i put the poor sucker in her cage, i added some more cricket food for the last man standing and put the cage back in its place.

it was time to toss the dead guys which brings me here.

music monday

hey there

bottom half of the monday workday to ya!music_note_-_3

way back when, i posted about my music monday tradition with my students.  every monday, we’d listen to music all day long in class.  it was lots of fun and after i shared my chipper mood song on friday, i was thinking that there’s no reason i can’t continue the monday fun by myself, right!?

every monday, i’ll give you a new bit of music.  it could be something fun, something new, or, like this week’s, something that struck a chord with my heart.  in kind, you can feel free to share anything you’ve been listening to lately or you think i’d like.
i’ll try and post them earlier than this.  this is really late and i’m not supposed to be on the computer at all right now!!! but i wanted to start this this week and it was now or never.
shhhhhhhhh. don’t tell.

life goes on

hello friends.
it’s been a while.

life’s kinda been busy and crazy these past few weeks.  forget about the weather…personally, march certainly went out like a lion.
after a nice morning at mozart’s…eh…well…i know i’ll be ok.

so…i feel like this up-date post will be boring but the loyalists have asked.  can you handle it!? we’ll see…

without further ado, i give you bite-size doses of the good, the bad, the ugly, and of course, silly.  life’s no good without silly, right?!
