hello, old friend!

today is kinda a big day.

it’s the return of something i’ve looked forward to, dreamed of, and revered.

today, i am reunited with my old friend…

to every thing-turn, turn, turn…

so…two days ago, i had this whole stinkin’ post ready to go and i clicked publish when the screen told me i FAILED and the entire thing was erased!   and you know the second draft is never the same as the first one.  plus, i have more pressing things that i should be doing instead of this.  ugh…boo hoo…whine.

but, i thought it worth putting there the first time so (many hours two days later…after said pressing items) i go for round two:

seasons change and i’m in the midst of a biggie.

for the first time in 24 years, the school year has begun and i’m not a part of it.
this.   is.   weird…

everyone kept saying “don’t worry!! schools do most of their hiring right before the year starts.  with 7 years experience, you’ll get a job!” and i kinda believed them.  i mean, i didn’t think it was a definite but i was still hopeful.  plus, God wanted me to be teaching, right?!  i love it and i’m good at it.  why wouldn’t he want me teaching?

well…maybe because there’s something better for me?!
last thursday, i got a text from a friend who was notified by another friend that there’s a

wakin’ with a smile

this morning, despite the fact that i could have used a few more hours of shut-eye, i woke up happy.
feelin’ good, satisfied with life, can’t stop smiling happy.

and really, why shouldn’t i be?  there are lots of things going on that make for happiness…

it’s friday and i’m wearing jeans!  yahooo!  for some reason, even with monday off, this week has felt super long.  i guess it’s more been the days themselves that have felt long cause the fact that it was friday already surprised me.  delighted, for sure, but still surprised.

yesterday, steel poked his eye with his water bottle.  the kid’s usually pretty tough so when he was nearly crying, i sent him to the nurse.  apparently, he scratched his cornea.  today, he came up to ask to go again to get an eye patch.  HA!  i thought of yesterday’s knuckles comment on Rs and talking like a pirate.  i asked steel if he would talk like a pirate for me if he got the patch.  he blushed and said he didn’t know.  hoping to get some piratey fun, i sent him up but she didn’t give him one.  so sad. =)

and now for the return of friday five.  my kids have missed it and i know you have too.  we actually kinda did it last week i just never posted it.  you can read last week’s special edition on cory’s site.

ps – apparently, i know a lot of guys with a name that begins with the c/k sound.

yes, yes…it’s friday again.

it used to mean one thing for me: jeans.
now, i also connect it with cory and his friday five. my class has grown to love this activity so much. hopefully, cory won’t grow tired of kindergarten questions…though goodness knows i could understand if he did.

jeans day debacle

knowledge of my love of jeans day has gotten out.  last night, a friend of a friend perfect stranger mentioned today by name and i thought i’d found a kindred spirit.  when i looked up from my plate to find the lips from which these glorious words rolled, she was smiling and looking at me, waiting for response.  i smiled, laughed, and acknowledged that demin pants have a strange power over me.

sadly, even jeans couldn’t help what was to come today.
