today’s pick was inspired by meredith’s comment on the friday five. it’s not the same song…but it’s still dancing related.
it’s also not miley cyrus’ party in the usa, though that song has strangely become addictive and automatically makes me nod my head like yeah. =P

amy’s ice cream is celebrating 25 years and today, they’re having a free ice cream happy hour from 2-6! yum, yum!
speaking of yumminess, yesterday as i was putzing around in my backyard, picking at this and that, i came across some veggies in my abandoned garden. you see, the season has passed and most of my plants died anyway so i kinda left things to fend for themselves. apparently, some of the little guys weren’t ready to say goodbye just yet and i have some nice looking vegetables for tonight’s dinner!

happy music monday, friends, and welcome to the first week of november!
i sit here in my house awaiting the plumber. you see, closing a wii-filled weekend o fun, i found that my garage flooded on sunday because of a leak in the water heater. water flowed out the garage, providing nourishment for the grass and stress for me.
actually, that’s not true. somehow, i’m not all that stressed about it. does it suck? yes. but, if i’m going to stress out about something, there are much greater things at hand for me to choose from…see saw friends, the never-ending job hunt (not to mention the job woes of too many), and maggie chewing her butt off, to list a few. (i’m not kidding…there’s blood on her little tush!!)
but, i don’t want to stress at all so today, i choose “d: none of the above” and continue to try to surrender to God, embrace the here and now, and hope for the future.

hello.
how’s the day going? it’s rainy and dreary here in austin. i want to curl up with the new book i got at the thrift store last week (eat, pray, love) or watch episode upon episode ad infinitum of satc. hmmm…maybe i just will!
until then, i’ve got a song for you.
as i mentioned a few posts ago, i’ve been listening to the radio a lot more theses days and am surprisingly current in my music knowledge. last week on the way home from class, i heard two songs that i thought had potential for sharing. but after hearing it on the radio a few times yesterday and liking how it fits with the weather, i choose only one for you today.
in the midst of the curriculum project frenzy of my day, my gmail notifier dinged that i had email. always ready for a break, i clicked over to check what it was.
there in my inbox sat mail from K. subject: hippy deo.
a little backstory for ya:
for years, i’d been messing with different deodorants to try and find one that wouldn’t leave me with cancer or alzheimer’s but also actually worked…a most arduous task. after i heard of someone successfully making their own, i took a turn with the homemade brew. it seemed to work for a while but after i grew tired of smelling like rancid cocoa butter, i went back to the poisonous secret.
so, with that in the past, i clicked the link in the email, read and found matt nathanson’s post on hippy deodorant to be quite humorous.

on my way to class last thursday afternoon, i realized my new music monday post was off to a terrible start since i completely forgot it last week! and it’s hard to believe but no one reminded me either!! =P haha. oh well.
i return today nonetheless.
june of ‘08 i posted about some new music i was listening to. though i don’t continue to obsessively play these artists like i did when they were new to my arsenal, the time spent bonding with her lyrics and her heart that summer ensure that priscilla ahn remains a favorite.
